Sony launches WiFi-enabled point-and-shoot


In a bid to capitalise on the growing demand for smart cameras, Nepa Hima Trade Link, the authorised dealer for Sony electronics, has introduced a WiFi-enabled point-and-shoot from the Japanese electronics major.

The newly launched Sony Cyber-shot DSC WX200 smart camera offers high resolution, high-speed auto focus system, longer power back-up and more picture and beauty effects, among others. The Wi-Fi-ready camera also enables users to share photographs instantly on the internet.
The company has also launched two other compact cameras—Sony Cyber-shot DSC W710 and Cyber-shot DSC W730.
According to the company, these cameras were recently introduced in the global market. “The main aim of launching the latest cameras is to cater to the growing domestic market demand for advanced optical devices,” said Bikash Thapa, sales executive at Nepa Hima.
The stylish Cyber-shot WX200 is equipped with WiFi integrated functions, features a 18.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor along withSony G lens. Thapa said the famous Sony G lens ensures highpicture quality. The 17.5 mm ultra-compact camera incorporates an impressive 10x optical zoom.
The WX200 come with high-speed auto focus system and ‘optical steady shot’ feature that help minimise blur in photographs. “These features help capture blur-free and sharp pictures even if the camera is shaken,” said Thapa.
Other features of the Cyber-shot WX200 are advanced panorama mode and photo editing options like beauty effects and picture effects. Moreover, it can record movie clips in full HD quality.
Accessories that come along this camera are a wrist strap, a rechargeable battery, an AC adapter, a micro USB cable and a manual. DSC WX200 is priced at Rs 31,500.
Likewise, the Cyber-shot W710 features a 16.1MP sensor, 5X optical zoom, 720p HD movie mode, advanced flash and image stabilisation. The 360 degree sweep panorama mode helps take panoramic view in sprawling landscapes and captivating cityscapes in a shot and sweeping the camera in the desired direction, according to the company. In the 720p AVI movie mode, user can record high-quality 1280 X 720 HD movie clips at 30 fps.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC W710 is available for Rs 12,500.
Similarly, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC W730 features a 16MP Super HAD CCD image sensor, clear photo LCD monitor with a resolution of 230,000 dots, and a flash that incorporates a range of 2.8 metres at wide angle when using Auto ISO sensitivity. The W730 enables users to shoot high definition 1280X720 720p movie clips at 30 fps.
The camera comes with a lithium-ion rechargeable battery and includes both composite standard definition video output and USB 2.0 high speed data connectivity. The W730 is priced Rs 16,500.
